If you are a Windows Phone owner, use Bluetooth device and wonder why you cannot hear some of the voice apps you have downloaded from the Windows Phone Store, look below – we have it explained for you.
Some of our GPS Voice Navigation users mailed us that sometimes while their Bluetooth was on they were not able to hear the voice directions from the app. They said other voice apps were not running properly too. What usually happened was that the voice from the apps came directly from the phone’s speakers, and not from the Bluetooth device as it was supposed to. The only thing they could do with their Bluetooth was picking up calls and speak.
We have investigated further the issue and found out that both devices (the phone and the Bluetooth) have to support the so called Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) 1.2. If not – the Bluetooth would only work for voice calls.
Please note that this profile is supported by both Windows Phone 7 and Windows Phone 8 phones, but not by all Bluetooth devices. You might want to check yours.
We have already reached Microsoft on this issue and they said they are aware of the problem and they are working on it. We hope they will have it solved soon. In the meantime we encourage you to contact them if you have similar troubles and let us know if there is any progress.
